Joe Girardi and Yoda totally have to be brothers or cousins. It’ll be fun to see how much more Girardi will look like Yoda as he gets older. Both even have quotes about teaching.
“I love to teach. You want to see people making progress.”
—Joe Girardi
“Always pass on what you have learned.”
—Yoda
Is Yoda a Yankee; or Girardi a Jedi? I’d love to see Joe Girardi start spitting out some Yoda quotes. Imagine Girardi saying, “Named must your fear be before banish it you can.” Or better yet, “Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.” What Yankee would Girardi give this wise advise to?
The full Yoda quote comes from Return of the Jedi. These are the last words of Yoda, speaking to Luke Skywalker:
YODA
Luke…Luke…Do not…Do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor,
or suffer your father’s fate, you will. Luke, when gone am I
(cough),
the last of the Jedi will you be. Luke, the Force runs strong in your
family. Pass on what you have learned, Luke…
(with great effort)
There is…another…Sky…Sky…walker.
He catches his breath. A shiver runs through the ancient green
creature, and he dies. Luke stares at his dead master as he disappears
in front of his eyes.
An uncanny physical resemblance…almost disturbingly so! But, disturbing or not, these individuals speak powerful truths! Teaching and sharing is what Life’s all about 🙂
Yay for teachers!
