Asander’s strategy from April 27, 2011 Batter must be hitting around 300 with plenty of plate appearances so far this season. Must be facing a struggling pitcher, whose era is at least 5.00. Batter is on home turf, pitcher is away. Batters team is above 500 on the season, pitcher’s team below… I also like […]
May has not been too kind with me so far. I’m using strategy #7 this month: the top 30 players with the most GH from 2010. (GH = Games with a Hit). You’d think the top of the list should totally rock the start of May. After all, last year they were the best Beat […]
Simply the best Beat the Streak hitter EVER. Like ever ever. Of all time in baseball. Better than Pete Rose. Better than Stan Musial. Better than Lou Gehrig. It’s almost cheating to play Ichiro every day. But since he’s the best BTS player ever, it’s actually smart. I’m just not that smart, so I try […]
[UPDATED JULY 12, 2013] This is very similar to the Beat the Streak Strategy #4: At least one hit per game percentage, but it’s a little simplier. It’s just how many games a player got at least one hit. I call this stat GH (Games with a Hit).
Open one pack of baseball cards. Play ALL the hitters in that pack for one month. I did this for the month of April 2011. For the month of April, I’m played all the players in my 2011 Topps Opening Day pack. Here’s who I got:
In 2009 I developed the following strategy: Look at top 8 pitching staffs that has given up the most hits in the past 30 days. Look at those 8 teams those staffs are facing. Of those 8 teams, find team with the most hits in the past seven days Start with team that has most […]

[UPDATED MAY 18, 2013] I’ll tell you my new secret. Play anybody who is facing the Detroit Tigers. Their pitching staff is in their own league in terms of opponent’s batting average. Here’s the four worst pitching staffs of 2013, based on average: 30th) Detroit Tigers .280 29th) San Francisco Giants .272 28th) Colorado Rockies […]
Everyone loves a good cult-classic Pick Back in the mid-2000’s it was Geoff Jenkins. In 2013, it’s Jason Bay. On May 22, 2006, Erik shared his strategy: HERE’S MY SECRET: always start Geoff Jenkins. We should note that 10 days later on June 2, 2006 Erik wrote: I gave up on the Geoff Jenkins Experiment. […]
What are your strategies and secrets for Beat the Streak? Asander asked this on my group board, so I’m compiling a master list of all the Beat the Streak strategies. So far I have nine strategies. I’ll post one every day. Let’s start with strategy 1: I always looked for players that had two hits […]
When looking at people’s picks in a Beat the Streak group, it would be fantastic if you could click on the player’s name to pull up their game log.
So far in 2011 the player with the most games with zero hits and zero walks is Scott Hairston. Rather ironic that his 2011 Topps card features him running the bases. Although he does look rather lost on the base paths. Other players on the worst list:
So far this year, Andre Ethier has the most games with at least one hit: 15. He also has the second most at bats in 2011.
